ミカはグレーのアパートで遊んでいます。ミカはお気に入りの野球カードを持ってきて、グレーと一緒に見ています。
(Mica is playing in Gray’s apartment. Mica has brought her favorite baseball cards and is watching them with Gray.)

今日取り上げるのは新人選手という意味です。日本でもルーキーという言葉はよく耳にしますね。
(What we will cover today means a rookie player. We often hear the word “rookie” in Japan.)
日本でも英語と同じように、rookieと言いますが、もっと大まかに、新人と言いたい時にも使います。
例えば、警官、police officerの新人のことも、rookieと言います。
同じ新人でも、場面によって別の言葉を使うこともあります。
学校の1年生や新入社員は、freshmanということが多いです。職人などの新人だと、

-Today’s key point.
I often watched baseball when I was little.
私は小さかった時、よく野球を見ました。何々だった時と過去のことを言う時は、whenの後の部分の動詞は過去形を使います。
今日のキーセンテンスでは、when I was littleと過去形のwasを使っています。それでは他の例文も見てみましょう。
1). 私たちは6年生の時、同じクラスでした。
We were in the same class when we were in the sixth grade.
I started learning the piano when I was five.
私は5歳の時、ピアノを習い始めました。
My father lived in Washington, D.C. when he was a college student.
私の父は大学生の時、ワシントン、D.C.に住んでいました。
Now repeat each sentence after us.
