White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt says the administration of US President Donald Trump has arrested 538 illegal immigrant criminals.
She wrote in a post on the social media platform X on Thursday that they include a suspected terrorist, members of a Venezuelan gang and those convicted of sex crimes against minors.
Leavitt added that the Trump administration also deported hundreds of illegal immigrant criminals via military aircraft. She stressed, “The largest massive deportation operation in history is well underway.”
US media reported on Thursday that the crackdown was mainly conducted in what are described as “sanctuary cities,” including New York and Boston.
Fox News reported that a Haitian gang member detained in Boston was seen condemning Trump using vulgar language.
Trump said in his inaugural address on Monday, “We will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came.”
