MEDIA GETS GLIMPSE OF JAPAN PAVILION
The media has been given a look at the Japanese government pavilion for the 2025 World Exposition in Osaka.
The two-story Japan Pavilion is the largest one on the expo site. It will serve as the host nation’s base.
The building’s theme is “Between Lives.” The phrase refers to a cyclical loop of carbon recycling. Visitors will be able to see a facility that uses microbes to decompose garbage collected on the expo site. The plant will also produce biogas used for generating the pavilion’s electricity.
Many figures of the Hello Kitty character adorn the building’s interior. Each is in a costume representing one of 32 different types of algae. This promotes the organism as a substance that can be used for fuel and help address food shortages around the world.
The expo is scheduled to run for six months from April 13 through October 13.

建物のテーマは 「Between Lives」。この言葉は、炭素循環の循環ループを意味している。来場者は、万博会場で集められたゴミを微生物で分解する施設を見ることができる。このプラントでは、パビリオンの発電に使われるバイオガスも生産される。
館内にはハローキティのフィギュアがたくさん飾られている。それぞれが32種類の藻のコスチュームを着ている。これは、藻が燃料として利用できる物質であることをアピールするもので、世界中の食糧不足を解決する一助となる。
