そうですね。 この relax a restriction の言い換えを確認してみましょうか。 トムさんにいくつか挙げていただきます。
Well, in the context we’re talking about today, you could also say ease a restriction or loosen a restriction. Then there’s also lift a restriction, which means completely eliminating the restriction.
うーん、ニュース本文のように規制を緩和するという意味なら、 ease a restriction とか loosen a restriction とも言えるんですね。
