Ukrainian delegation visits Syria
A Ukrainian delegation including Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has visited Syria and expressed its desire to remove Russia’s influence from the Middle Eastern country.
アンドレイ・シビハ外務大臣を含むウクライナ代表団がシリアを訪問し、中東の国からロシアの影響力を排除したいとの意向を表明した。
The delegation is one of the diplomatic corps that have visited the country since the collapse of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s administration earlier this month.
Sybiha met Abu Mohammed al-Golani, the leader of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group leading Syria’s interim government, and others in the capital Damascus on Monday.
The Ukrainian officials said that as relief supply, 500 tons of wheat flour are scheduled to arrive in Syria on Tuesday. They also said they are ready to cooperate with Syria in probing war crimes.
Sybiha said at a news conference that the removal of Russia’s presence in Syria will contribute to the stability of not only the Syrian state, but also the entire Middle East and Africa.
Foreign minister for Syria’s interim government, Asaad Hassan al-Shibani, said in response that his country would have “strategic partnerships” with Ukraine.
But the interim government has also signaled its willingness to maintain relations with Russia, saying the two countries share “deep strategic interests.”

代表団は、今月初めのアサド政権崩壊以降、シリアを訪問した外交団のひとつである。
シビハ氏は月曜日、首都ダマスカスで、シリアの暫定政権を率いるハヤト・タハリール・アル・シャムグループのリーダー、アブ・モハメド・アル・ゴラニ氏らと会談した。
ウクライナ当局者によると、救援物資として小麦粉500トンが火曜日にシリアに到着する予定である。彼らはまた、戦争犯罪の調査においてシリアに協力する用意があると述べた。
シビハ氏は記者会見で、シリアにおけるロシアのプレゼンスがなくなることは、シリアだけでなく、中東とアフリカ全体の安定に貢献すると述べた。
