Around the world
we’re on the move.
Speak up every week,
and you’ll improve.
You can talk to me.
We can laugh and smile.
Eikaiwa Time Trial
Let’s get started with Day 5 for the month of November.
Hi, everyone.  I’m Steve Soresi.
(This year’s theme is English Connecting Boat Trips, and this month the setting is Iceland.)
(Let’s call our conversation partner who will travel with us right away. This is Nora.)
Hi, everyone. I’m Nora Kennedy. Let’s go to Iceland. It’s our last stop around the Atlantic together. We will have some good conversations there.
(Let me ask you what Iceland is to Europeans.)
When you or when Europeans think of Iceland, what do you think of?
Well, It’s a small country with a lot of volcanoes.
Ah, yes, of course.
And the other thing about Iceland is that it has a really small population.
That’s true.
(Iceland is one of the few countries in Europe with a very small population.)
(This kind of conversation, the talk of the world, in other words, small talk is important. Let’s grab the thread of conversation and be able to talk about the world well.)
Here we go!
Taiwa Karaoke Around the Atlantic!
So, let’s check out today’s scene. Imagine this. You and I are going to see the magical northern lights in Iceland.
As we are waiting… We’ll chat about the news. One big news story is the U.S. presidential election.
(It’s the U.S. presidential election. The scene is that the results will be out soon. You’ll be asked to talk a little about the election.)
And if we’re lucky, we might be able to see the northern lights.
Did you picture the situation?
(Now, feel free to respond to Nora’s English question in English during the pause.)
So, try to have a seven-turn conversation as we chat together under the skies of Iceland. Ready? Start!

Oh, hello! Chilly tonight, isn’t it?

Looks like good weather to catch the northern lights.
(I was told that the weather looks like it would be a good time to see the Northern Lights. Feel free to say a few words back.)

By the way, we’re getting the U.S. presidential election results soon. Who do you hope will win?
(You asked who is likely to win the presidential election. Feel free to answer.)
