Speak up every week,
and you’ll improve.
You can talk to me.
We can laugh and smile.

Let’s get started with Day 10 for the month of December. Hi everyone, I’m Steve Soresi. And here’s our conversation partner, around the Caribbean.
Hi everyone. I’m Kerry. Let’s go to Jamaica this month. Just try to complete the conversation with me today in your own words.
Okay, everyone. Here we go.

And do you remember this month theme? It’s digital help in Jamaica.

So, first, let’s check out today’s theme. Imagine this.
Today you’re going to a Jamaican primary school. You’ll volunteer there.
We have some laptops for students. You are helping me set up the laptops and connect to the Wi-Fi.

After we set up all the laptops, and connect them to the Wi-Fi, we’ll call in the students.

Did you imagine the situation?
So try to have a six-turn conversation as we set up laptops for the students. Ready, start.

1. Thank you for volunteering today. Oh, that laptop is not on. Could you turn the power on?
2. Oh, there it is! We need to install the school app. So, just click the dolphin icon here, OK?

Time’s up.
How many times did you reply to me?
By the way, in Jamaica, they don’t say an elementary school. It’s primary school.
A primary school. That might be from the British influence?
Yes, I think so.
And did you ever use a laptop in school in Jamaica?
Well, I used a computer in a computer room.
Yes. Same with me. I went to a computer room. And after school or University, did you work in Jamaica?
Yes. I worked at a newspaper. And I used lots of computers every day.
I see. What did you do for the newspaper?
Oh, I was a journalist, so I was a writer..
I see.

Steve will show you ONE way to reply. Listen carefully.
