Let’s get started with Day 13 for the month of January.
Hi everyone! I’m Steve Soresi.
And I’m Jenny Skidmore. Thanks for joining us.
今月はレベルアップ表現を一緒に身に着けています。表現をレベルアップさせるのは簡単です。基本的な表現にちょっと言葉を足すだけです。(This month we are learning level-up expressions together. It is easy to level up your expressions. Just add a few words to the basic expressions.)
さあ、今回の基本表現はこちら。
Would you -?
Would you -? それを簡単にレベルアップする技を身につけていきましょう。Are you ready?
It’s time for your first try.
I’ll say something in Japanese and you say it in English.
Here’s the first one.
1. こちらでお待ちいただけますか? 英語で言うと、答えを言います。
Would you be kind enough to wait here?
さあ、Would you be kind enough to -.? を使って、こちらを言ってみよう。
日焼け止めは the Sunscreen を使ってどうぞ。
では、その受け答えの表現。頼まれたら、この2文を言いたいですね。
それでは今回の2つ目のレベルアップ表現。まずこちらを言ってみよう。
4. こちらにそのレストランの名前を書いていただけますか? 答えを言います。
Would you mind writing that restaurant name here?
基本表現は、Would you write that restaurant name here?
申し訳なさを込めて、Would you mind writing that restaurant name here?
ごめんね、これをお願いできますか? そんなにニュアンスがばっちり伝わる、Would you mind + -ing?
7. 変でなければ。
If it’s not too awkward.もしかして、If it’s not strange, if it’s not weird を言いましたか? strange も weird も変という意味になりますが、とても強い言葉です。少し気まずいかもしれないけど。 気まずくなければ、変でなければ、なら、awkward, if it’s not too awkward,
次の文に、not too awkward を使っていってみよう。こちら。
