日本語でファンシーというとちょっと可愛いデコレーションがついたものを想像するかもしれませんが、英語にはそういうニュアンスはありません。(In Japanese, the word “fancy” might conjure up images of something with a little cute decoration, but in English there is no such nuance.)
例えば、オーダーメイドで作った高級なスーツは、見た目が派手じゃなくてもファンシースーツと言います。
同じように、fancy dinner ファンシーディナーと言ったら、メルヘンに出てきそうな可愛い食事ではなくて、豪華なディナーという意味です。
(For example, a fancy suit made to order is called a fancy suit even if it doesn’t look fancy.
Similarly, when we say fancy dinner, we mean not a pretty meal that looks like something out of a fairy tale.)
他にも、丁寧に装飾されたものをフェンシーを使って表現します。お誕生日や結婚式用のいわゆるデコレーションケーキは fancy cake と呼ばれています。
(Other carefully decorated items are also described using fancy. So-called decorated cakes for birthdays and weddings are called fancy cakes.)
ファンシーなものにはかわいいものも多いので、かわいいのニュアンスだけが日本で広がったのかもしれませんね。(Since many fancy things are cute, only the nuance of cute may have spread in Japan.)

それは素晴らしいですという意味の It is wonderful. のisをtastesに置き換えることで、下で感じたことを言うことができます。 それでは他の例文も見てみましょう。
1). This salad tastes great.
このサラダは素晴らしい味がします。
This saladが主語となっていて、このサラダがどのような味なのかをtastes greatで表しています。次です。
2). Did the fruit taste sour?
その果物は酸っぱい味がしましたか?
一般動詞なので、疑問文にするときは、did、do、doesを文の最初に置きます。
sourは酸っぱいという意味の形容詞です。
次は、匂いを表現するときの例です。
3). This flower smells sweet.
この花は甘い香りがします。
smellは何々の匂いがするという意味で、主語がどのような匂いなのかを表します。の後には形容詞を置きます。
