One mushroom won’t kill you.
直訳すると 何々があなたを殺しはしないよ」 つまり「どうってことないよ」 という意味合いで使われます
相手に対して ちょっとなら大丈夫でしょ? とおすすめするときに使います。
例えば、 友達がダイエット中でクッキーを食べない方がいいと思っているけど、1枚くらいならいいじゃん、 という感じで、
One cookie won ‘t kill you?
と言えます。
似たフレーズで、 hurt、 傷つける、 という動詞を使った、 – won ‘t hurt や – can ‘t hurt という言い方もあります。
例えば、 試験勉強をしている友達に、
A little break can’t hurt.
ちょっとぐらい休憩してもいいでしょう。
kill, hurt. のような動詞に対して、 ちょっと物騒なイメージを持つかもしれませんが、 どちらも日常会話でよく使われます。 覚えておきましょう。

今日の学習ポイントは、 「〜しなければならなかった」 と言ってみよう です。そして今日のキーセンテンスはこちら。

私たちは野球ボールを問いに行かなければなりませんでした。 何々しなければなりませんでした。 という時には、 had to を動詞の前に置き、 動詞は原形を使います。 現在のことを言う時は、 have to または must を使いますが、 過去のことを言う時は had to のみとなります。 それでは他の例文も見てみましょう。
1). We had to stay at the hotel because of the heavy rain.
私たちは大雨のためにホテルにいなければなりませんでした。
しなければならなかった理由を添えて言うことがよくあります。 次です。
2). I didn’t hang out with my friends because I had to take care of my little brother.
私は弟の面倒を見なければならなかったので、 友達と遊びに行きませんでした。
理由を述べる部分にhad toを使っています。 次です。
3). I had to push my bicycle because I had a flat tire.
タイヤがパンクしたので、 私は自転車を押さなければなりませんでした。
flat は平らな という意味で、 I had a flat tire. タイヤがパンクした
