北日本でテーブルをひっくり返して不満を爆発させる競争

People from various age groups have taken part in a unique competition to overturn a low table while they shout out their wish or frustration.
様々な年齢層の人々が、願い事や不満を叫びながら低いテーブルをひっくり返すというユニークな競技に参加した。

The event took place in a northern prefecture of Iwate in Japan on Saturday.
このイベントは土曜日に岩手県北部で行われた。

Young members of a commerce group in the Town of Yahaba in the prefecture has organized the event every year hoping to revitalize the town.
同県矢巾町の商工会に所属する若者たちが、町の活性化を願って毎年このイベントを開催している。

This year about 30 participants ranging from two to 74 years old competed each other, flipping a 40-centimeter square table.
今年は2歳から74歳までの約30人が参加し、40センチ四方のテーブルをひっくり返して競い合った。

They competed by the uniqueness of their costume, their phrases as well as how far a toy saury fish on the table flips.
仮装のユニークさやフレーズ、テーブルの上に置かれたサンマのおもちゃがどこまで反転するかを競った。

One participant shouted “Don’t leave your socks lying around” while others said “I want to lose weight” or “Too much homework.”
ある参加者は “靴下を脱ぎっぱなしにしないで “と叫び、他の参加者は “痩せたい “や “宿題が多すぎる “と言った。

Spectators laughed and clapped, thoroughly enjoying the event.
観客は笑ったり、拍手したり、大いにイベントを楽しんだ。

The winner was from Morioka City in Iwate Prefecture who came with his child. He sent the toy fish flying for 7.44 meters that is, he said, further than he thought he could.
優勝したのは、岩手県盛岡市から親子で参加した男性。彼はおもちゃの魚を7.44メートルも飛ばした。

He said that it was a first time for him to take part in the event which is very good as it let people excited together.
彼は、このイベントに参加するのは初めてだったそうだが、みんなで一緒に盛り上がれるのでとてもよかったと語った。
