North Korea reports South Korea’s martial law turmoil for first time
North Korean media on Wednesday reported for the first time on the political turmoil in South Korea triggered by President Yoon Suk-yeol’s martial law declaration last week.
北朝鮮のメディアは2日、尹錫烈（ユン・ソクヨル）大統領の先週の戒厳令宣言によって引き起こされた韓国の政治的混乱について初めて報道した。
The ruling Workers’ Party newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported that Yoon declared martial law on December 3.
The article also covered the subsequent developments in detail, including the deployment of military personnel at the National Assembly and the lifting of martial law about six hours later. It also reported on the dismissal of an impeachment motion against Yoon at the National Assembly.
The article described the turmoil as a shocking incident in which the country’s “fascist dictatorship” wielded guns and knives against its people unhesitatingly and wrought havoc across South Korea.
The article also reported on massive rallies held across the country, in which citizens demanded Yoon’s impeachment. It included a photo of one such rally.
Quoting media in the South, it said Yoon cannot avoid a downfall.
South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported that it was the first time in a week for North Korean media to publish an article criticizing Yoon. It said such articles had temporarily stopped from the day after the martial law was lifted.
