Released activist vows to ‘end whaling worldwide’
Freed anti-whaling activist Paul Watson has vowed to continue his campaign. He also warned Japanese whalers against returning to the Antarctic Ocean.
解放された反捕鯨活動家ポール・ワトソンは、今後もキャンペーンを続けることを誓った。彼はまた、日本の捕鯨船に南極海への回帰を警告した。
Watson is back in France where his family lives, following his detention in the Danish autonomous territory of Greenland since July.
Danish authorities decided last week not to extradite the former head of the Sea Shepherd Group to Japan, where he faces a charge of organizing forcible obstruction of Japanese research whaling.
The AFP news agency says Watson took part in an event in Paris on Saturday.
He told reporters: “One way or the other, we are going to end whaling worldwide. We need to learn to live on this planet in harmony with all those other species that share this world with us.”
Watson warned, “If Japan intends to return to the Southern Ocean, we will be there.”
