日本全国でインフルエンザ患者が増加
Influenza cases on rise across Japan
Influenza is on the rise across Japan, with weekly case counts increasing in all 47 prefectures.
日本全国でインフルエンザが流行しており、47都道府県すべてで週間患者数が増加している。
The National Institute of Infectious Diseases and other organizations say about 5,000 hospitals and clinics across the country reported seeing 211,049 flu patients in the seven-day period up to December 22.
That’s more than double the figure from the previous week.
Based on this sample, the nationwide case count is estimated to be about 1.674 million.
The average patient number per medical institution stood at 42.66, the highest in a decade at this time of year.
Oita Prefecture had the highest number at 82.64, followed by Kagoshima with 65.57 and Saga with 61.62.
Case counts increased in all prefectures, and exceeded the warning level of 30 patients in 36 prefectures.
The head of the influenza panel at the Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases, Ishida Tadashi, says case numbers will likely peak after the New Year’s holidays.
He says patient numbers are growing very quickly this season. And he warns that infections will likely spread as people travel during the holiday period.
He urges people to wash their hands, wear masks and take other steps to avoid infection.

国立感染症研究所などによると、全国約5,000の病院や診療所が、12月22日までの7日間に211,049人のインフルエンザ患者を診察したと報告した。
これは前週の2倍以上である。
このサンプルに基づくと、全国の患者数は約167万4千人と推定される。
医療機関あたりの平均患者数は42.66人で、この時期としては過去10年間で最も多かった。
大分県が82.64人と最も多く、鹿児島県65.57人、佐賀県61.62人と続いた。
全都道府県で患者数が増加し、36都道府県で警報レベルの30人を超えた。
日本感染症学会のインフルエンザ部会長である石田正氏によると、患者数のピークは年末年始以降になりそうだという。
今シーズンの患者数は非常に急速に増加しているという。また、年末年始の旅行で感染が拡大する可能性が高いと警告している。
手洗いやマスクの着用など、感染を避けるための対策をとるよう呼びかけている。
