Russia, Iran, Turkey agree to urge dialogue between Syria’s government, rebels
Russia, Iran and Turkey have agreed to urge the Syrian government and opposition forces to hold talks as fighting between the two sides has flared up in recent weeks.
ロシア、イラン、トルコは、シリア政府と反体制勢力との間でここ数週間戦闘が激化しているため、シリア政府と反体制勢力に協議を行うよう促すことで合意した。
The agreement came in a meeting of foreign ministers of the three countries in the Qatari capital Doha on Saturday.
Russia and Iran have backed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, while Turkey has supported some of the anti-government forces.
Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi told reporters after the meeting that “all the participants agreed that the conflicts should end immediately.” He added that it is most important to “start political dialogues between the Syrian government and legitimate opposition groups.”
Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, said that the main task now around Syria is to “stop the fighting.” He also said Russia will counter the militants’ attempt to change the situation and support “the legitimate Syrian authorities.”
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech on Saturday that “Turkey is on the right side of history.”
Erdogan also said, “We want to see a Syria where distinct identities coexist peacefully side by side.” He added, “We hope to see such a Syria in the very near future.”
The opposition forces have made major advances over the past few weeks, taking advantage of the conflicts in Lebanon and Ukraine.
On Saturday, the rebels claimed to have advanced to within 20 kilometers from the southern gate of the capital, Damascus.

イランのアッバス・アラグチ外相は会談後、記者団に対し、「すべての参加者は、紛争を直ちに終わらせるべきだということで合意した」と述べた。また、「シリア政府と合法的な反体制派との政治的対話を開始することが最も重要だ」と付け加えた。
ロシアのセルゲイ・ラブロフ外相は、シリア周辺での現在の主な課題は 「戦闘を止めること 」だと述べた。また、ロシアは状況を変えようとする武装勢力に対抗し、「正当なシリア当局 」を支援すると述べた。
トルコのレジェップ・タイイップ・エルドアン大統領は土曜日の演説で、「トルコは歴史の正しい側にいる」と述べた。
エルドアンはまた、「我々は、異なるアイデンティティーが平和的に共存するシリアを見たい」と述べた。そして、「近い将来、そのようなシリアが実現することを望んでいる 」と付け加えた。
反体制勢力は、レバノンやウクライナの紛争に乗じて、ここ数週間で大きく前進した。
