フィジーの伝統的な踊り 「メケ」(Fijian traditional dance “Meke”)
世界各地にその土地ならではの踊りがあります。 フィジーの踊りといえばメケ。歌に乗せた物語との組み合わせが特徴です。 優雅な手の動きが印象的な女性の踊りに対し、 全身で表現する男性の踊りは力強くキレがあり、 迫力満点。 フィジーでは学校でメケを習うこともあるそうです。
(Each region of the world has its own local dances. Fiji’s dance is the meke. It is characterized by the combination of songs and stories. While the women’s dance is impressive for its graceful hand movements, the men’s dance is powerful, sharp, and full of power. In Fiji, it is said that some students learn meke at school. )
国際コミュニケーションでは、相手の国の有名な踊りについて質問するのもいいですね。
(In international communication, it is also a good idea to ask questions about famous dances of the other person’s country. )
例えば、ギリシャの人には What’s the name of the most traditional dance in Greece? のように聞けます。
スマートフォンで踊りの動画を見せてもらったり、こちらから日本の踊りを教えてあげたりすれば、会話が盛り上がるはずです。
