Let’s get started with Day 5 for the month of March.

今年度のテーマは「英語でつながる船の旅」。最後の月となる今月の舞台は、カリブ海のプエルトリコです。というわけで、早速あなたの会話パートナーを呼びましょう。ケリーさんです。
Hi, everyone. I’m Kerry. Let’s go to Puerto Rico together and have fun and useful conversations there.
It’s nice to see you again, Kerry.
It’s nice to see you, too. Thank you for having me back.
When you, or people from Jamaica, think of Puerto Rico, what do you imagine?
Well, you said it. The first thing that comes to mind, really, is Spanish.
Yes, Spanish, of course. The name Puerto Rico means
Rich port.
Rich port. エルトリコの名前はまず、プエルト。 Port, 港。リコは Rich。さあ、そんなプエルトリコ舞台に、会話のトレーニングをしましょう。

今月は、旅の手配、arrangements をします。というわけで、早速今日の会話の場面を確認しましょう。
Okay. Here’s today’s scene. Imagine this.
Our cruise ends in Puerto Rico. Tomorrow is your flight back to Japan.
船の旅も終わりに近づき、明日はいよいよ飛行機で日本へ帰国します。
So, You and a friend are going to an airport hotel by taxi.
あなたは旅の仲間と、空港の近くのホテルにタクシーで向かうことにしました。
英語を話せるあなたが代表として、現地の人と英語で話します。
I’ll pretend to be the taxi driver.
今回はケリーさんはタクシー運転手を演じてくれます。
Before you get in a taxi, just ask one important question. How much it would be to go somewhere?
タクシーに乗る前に、目的地を伝え料金を確認しましょう。
And then, we drive to your hotel and have a talk.
タクシーに乗って会話をしながらホテルに向かいましょう。
