Polish PM: Russian drones ‘shot down’ after violating airspace

Russian forces conducted a drone and missile attack in Ukraine through Wednesday morning. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has criticized the strike for violating his country’s airspace. He said Polish and NATO fighter jets shot down three drones.
Tusk said it is the first time Russian drones have been shot down over the territory of a NATO country. He described the situation as “serious,” saying “no one can doubt that we must prepare for various scenarios.”
Local media reports say debris from a drone struck a house, destroying its roof and damaging a car.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed his concern. He said the North Atlantic Council nations held talks on Wednesday and discussed the situation in light of Poland’s request for consultations under Article 4, which states that they will meet when any member feels a threat to its territorial integrity, political independence or security.
Rutte added that allies expressed solidarity with Poland and denounced Russia’s “reckless” behavior. He said that a full assessment is ongoing, and even if the violation of airspace was unintentional, it was absolutely dangerous.
Russia’s defense ministry said on social media that “no targets on Polish territory were planned.” It added that it is ready to hold consultations with the Polish defense ministry.

ポーランド首相：ロシアのドローンが領空侵犯後に「撃墜された」
ロシア軍は水曜日の朝にかけてウクライナに対してドローンとミサイル攻撃を行った。ポーランドのドナルド・トゥスク首相は、自国の領空を侵犯したとしてこの攻撃を批判した。彼は、ポーランドとNATOの戦闘機がドローン3機を撃墜したと述べた。
