MUFG Bank to raise starting salary by 18%

Next year is shaping up to be a great time to enter Japan’s banking industry, with major firms offering big entry-level wage hikes. MUFG Bank is the latest financial giant to boost its salary for new graduates, announcing an 18 percent raise starting in April 2026.
Japan’s largest bank will raise base pay for university recruits to 300,000 yen, or 2,000 dollars, a month.
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking and Nomura Securities also plan to increase base pay for new employees next year.
Major companies in Japan are raising wages to attract workers amid severe labor shortages. Financial firms are now following suit. The sector is enjoying strong business due to higher interest rates, among other factors.
MUFG’s entry-level wage hike follows news of a general wage increase of about 9 percent, which management agreed to at this year’s spring labor negotiations.

三菱UFJ銀行、初任給を18％引き上げへ

来年は、日本の銀行業界に入るには絶好のタイミングとなりそうです。大手企業が新卒向けに大幅な賃上げを発表しているからです。
最新の発表では、三菱UFJ銀行が2026年4月から新卒の初任給を18％引き上げると発表しました。
日本最大の銀行である同社は、大学新卒者の基本給を月額30万円（約2,000ドル）に引き上げます。
三井住友銀行や野村証券も、来年から新入社員の基本給を引き上げる予定です。
日本の大企業は、深刻な人手不足の中で人材を確保するために賃金を引き上げています。金融業界もその動きに追随し始めました。この業界は、金利の上昇などの要因により業績が好調です。
今回の三菱UFJの新卒賃上げは、今年の春季労使交渉で経営側が合意した、およそ9％の一般賃上げの発表に続くものです。
