Yes. Other examples of to being followed by an ing form include look forward to, object to, be committed to, and devote oneself to.
はい。今挙げていただいたように look forward to -, 〜を楽しみにしてする
object to -, 〜に反対する
be committed to 何々に真剣に取り組んでいる
devote oneself to 何々に専念する なども to の後に動詞の ing の形が続きます。
これらは I want to do it のように原形を続ける to と一体何が違うのでしょうか？ まずクリスティさんに聞いてみましょう。
Christy, what’s the difference between the to in look forward to and the to that comes before a verb in something like “I want to do it”?
Well, in want to do, to goes with a verb. And in look forward to, to is like a link to a thing or action. So it’s followed by a word with ing.
