TikTok’s US operations to be transferred to new joint venture including Oracle

A senior White House official says the US operations of Chinese-affiliated video-sharing app TikTok will be transferred to a new joint venture based in the United States.
The official said on Monday that the consortium includes major US tech company Oracle, and that a majority of its board members are Americans. The official added that the deal will be worth billions of dollars.
The official also said that TikTok’s algorithm, which determines the order of contents to be displayed, will be overseen by Oracle.
The US government says it does not intend to hold a so-called golden share which gives the administration the authority to veto important management decisions, nor any equity stake.
On Friday, President Donald Trump revealed that he had spoken with Chinese President Xi Jinping by phone, and that they had made progress over the approval of the TikTok deal.
The White House official said that Trump is expected to sign an executive order as early as this week to approve the deal.

ホワイトハウスの高官は、中国系動画共有アプリ「TikTok」の米国事業が、アメリカ国内に拠点を置く新たな合弁会社に移管されると発表しました。
同高官によると、この企業連合には米大手IT企業のオラクルが含まれ、取締役の大多数がアメリカ人になるということです。また、この取引の規模は数十億ドルに上るとしています。
