Louvre Museum introduces dual pricing entry fees

The Louvre Museum in Paris has raised the entry ticket price for people coming mostly from outside Europe.
The entry fee was increased on Wednesday by 45 percent from 22 euros to 32 euros, or around 37 dollars. The new fee applies to visitors from outside the European Union, except for Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
Museum officials said they expect an annual revenue increase of up to 20 million euros, or about 23 million dollars. They also said the additional funds will be used to modernize facilities and equipment, among other purposes.
In October, thieves stole jewelry from the museum, posing a challenge to security.
Some say the dual pricing is unfair, but elsewhere in France, the Palace of Versailles is among destinations that have also introduced similar fee systems.

パリのルーブル美術館は、主にヨーロッパ以外から来る人々を対象に、入場券の価格を引き上げた。
入場料は水曜日に、22ユーロから32ユーロへと45％値上げされ、約37ドルとなった。新しい料金は、ノルウェー、アイスランド、リヒテンシュタインを除く欧州連合（EU）域外からの訪問者に適用される。
美術館の関係者は、年間で最大2,000万ユーロ（約2,300万ドル）の収益増加を見込んでいると述べた。また、追加の資金は、他の目的とともに、施設や設備の近代化に使われるという。
10月には、泥棒が美術館から宝飾品を盗み、警備上の課題が浮き彫りになった。
