Pope’s funeral to be held Saturday

The Vatican has announced that Pope Francis’ funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Square.
Various world leaders are expected to attend the ceremony.
On Tuesday morning, one day after the pontiff’s death at the age of 88, many people visited the Vatican to mourn his passing.
An Australian woman said it was a good opportunity for world leaders to come together. She noted: “There’s a lot of war going on and there’s a lot of discontent. And I think it’s a great opportunity for the people to come together to actually think about peace.”
A man from America said, “I hope that they come here and they are respectful of him what he represented.” He added that he thought the pope’s main message was that “every human is important and we need to respect everyone.”
US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron said they plan to attend the funeral. And Reuters reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will also be there.
The Vatican announced that the Pope’s body will be transferred to St. Peter’s Basilica at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, where he will lie in state, and the public can pay their respects.
On Monday, the Vatican also released the pope’s will.
It was dated June 29, 2022. And in breaking with tradition, he expressed his wish to be laid to rest at the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome, and not at St. Peter’s, like many of his predecessors.
He also requested that his tomb “should be in the ground; simple, without particular ornamentation, and bearing only the inscription: Franciscus.”
And he closed his last testament by saying: “May the Lord grant the deserved reward to those who have wished me well and will continue to pray for me. The suffering that marked the final part of my life, I offer to the Lord, for peace in the world and brotherhood among peoples.”

バチカンは、フランシスコ教皇の葬儀が土曜日午前10時にサン・ピエトロ広場で行われると発表した。
さまざまな各国首脳が式典に出席する見込みだ。
火曜日の朝、教皇が88歳で亡くなった翌日、多くの人々が教皇の死を悼むためにバチカンを訪れた。
オーストラリアから来た女性は、「今は世界のリーダーたちが集まるよい機会です」と述べた。彼女はこう語った：「戦争が多発し、不満も多いです。だから、人々が一つになって平和について考える良い機会だと思います。」

バチカンは、水曜日午前9時に教皇の遺体がサン・ピエトロ大聖堂に移され、**一般公開（一般弔問）**されることも発表した。
また月曜日、教皇の遺言書が公開された。
それは2022年6月29日に記されたもので、伝統を破り、「サン・ピエトロ大聖堂ではなく、ローマのサンタ・マリア・マッジョーレ大聖堂に埋葬されること」を希望していた。
また墓については「地中に埋葬し、装飾を施さず、『フランシスコ』という碑文だけを刻んでほしい」と希望していた。
最後の遺言はこう結ばれていた：
「私を思いやり、今後も祈ってくれるすべての人に、主がふさわしい報いを与えてくださいますように。私の人生の最後を特徴づけた苦しみを、世界の平和と人々の間の友愛のために、主に捧げます。」
