People of Greenland voice opposition against Trump’s desire to take control

People in the main city of Nuuk in Greenland are voicing their opposition against US President Donald Trump’s desire to take control of the Danish autonomous territory.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that the United States should own the island. He plans to impose new tariffs against eight European countries, including Denmark and Britain, which oppose his bid to take ownership.
Protesters rallied in the city of Nuuk last week. Signboards with “Greenland is not for sale” could be seen outside shops in the city. Flags of Greenland were raised on many buildings.
A woman said, “We need to be strong because we need to stand together, all of us, and tell him that he needs to respect us as Greenlanders.”
