Daniel Kebede: I’m really of the view, you know, that the World Cup comes around so infrequently, every four years. We have this fantastic England team, you know, multicultural, multiracial. I would really like to see the secretary of state essentially allow schools to have a bit of a flexible start on Monday.
Charlie Stayt: There are a proportion of people who will want their kids to go to school, because they, they’re not that bothered about football. Children themselves may not like football that, that much. So why does school have to be disrupted?
Daniel Kebede: So I think what we should do is empower headteachers and schools to be able to make their own decisions that are very specific for their setting. But what I think is very important is that if there is a dip in attendance on Monday, particularly on Monday morning, is that schools aren’t punished for that.
