BBC News: A big loss – Fans react to death of Sir Patrick Stewart

Just a huge fan. Since he was in Dune and Star Trek, and saw him many times on stage. Still really a big loss for his passing.
I have great memories of watching Next Generation as a kid, um, with my dad, and then seeing him in X-Men, which was just amazing. I think he personified both of those characters.
My mom and I are big fans of him, and we just loved his character in Star Trek. And then it was just like, I had to do the little peace salute, like, “Bye-bye, Captain.”
And then… Yeah. And then, obviously, when I saw the star, I’ve been looking this whole time, and it was like I finally found it. And it’s like, I hope he rests in peace, cuz I do have like amazing memories watching Star Trek.
He was a great actor, and, yeah, it’s going to be tough to replace his legacy as Charles Xavier.
I also happen to have a stutter and a speech impediment, so, um, I took great inspiration from his roles, um, both, um, as Captain Picard, but as Professor Xavier, because being a person with a disability, seeing him on screen in a role like that just was very meaningful for me.
It’s a sad day. I think us as a nation have lost a great in theater and TV and film, and I think the world has, really. It’s a sad…
